Being miserable at school helped Taylor Swift

Z100's Jingle Ball 2009 - ShowTaylor Swift puts her success down to her being miserable at school.

Taylor wrote her first song when she was only 10 years old – because she was unhappy at school.

‘The one thing I had to hold on to was that I could go home afterwards and write a song about it,’

‘If someone hurts you and you write a song about it, and that song is going to be played on the radio and everywhere… well that’s about the best revenge you can possibly imagine.’

‘My mum [used to say]…”People just aren’t supposed to figure out what they want to do when they’re 11.” But I did – and I’ve never altered,’ she told the Daily Telegraph magazine.

‘Now I’m really pleased that I was miserable at school. After all, think what might have happened if I’d been happy. I could still be in Pennsylvania.’
