Robert Pattinson to play Spider-Man?

Twilight hottie Robert Pattinson may be taking over Tobey Maguire’s role as superhero Spider-Man.

That’s right, rumours are flying that our favourite vampire may be swapping his sparkly skin for a Spider-Man suit (that will cover his face – boo!) now that Tobey Maguire has announced he won’t be doing the fourth film.

However, Sony Pictures and Columbia refused to confirm the stories.

“Our first step is to find a director,” they told Entertainment Tonight.

Earlier this week, Tobey and director Sam Raimi both announced they would not be back for the next movie.

The next Spider-Man movie will see Spider-Man’s alter-ego Peter Parker at high school and is expected to hit the screens in 2012.

We’d actually consider watching a Spider-Man movie if Robert Pattinson was in it.
