Channel 4 and E4 will stop showing hit TV series ‘Friends’

27th Annual People's Choice Awards

It’s the TV show we have grown to know, love and quote since 1994. It has become a regular feature on the channel 4 and E4 schedule, but unfortunately ‘Friends’ will no longer be screened to free up funds for new shows.

‘Friends’  has been a hit ever since it was first screened in 1994 and a massive 236 episodes later, the show will no longer be shown on these channels.

Channel 4’s Gill Hay added  “We are incredibly proud to have been the home of Friends for so long, but at a point when the channel is undergoing a period of creative renewal it felt like the right time to part company.”

The show to date still tracks an audience of around 400,000 showing that, despite the last episode being screened in 2004, the shows popularity still lives on.

But don’t fret!

The good news is that Comedy Central will be broadcasting the show after next Autumn, when Channel 4’s contract with Warner Bros International Television ends.

Phew!
