It’s usually a dead certainty that the winner of the X Factor gets a Christmas number one – but that wasn’t the case for Joe after an online campaign was launched by fans to get a Rage Against the Machine track  to the festive top spot instead.

Joe spoke to stv.tv about his disappointment.

He said: “I was disappointed but I felt so lucky. Six months ago I didn’t even have a song out, I was at college, getting on the metro every day, and then six months later I was in a chart battle. But I had just won biggest show, had the biggest opportunity ever, so it was kind of a bit like a small disappointment because I was so happy with everything else that was going on.”

“So it was just straight over the head and it got there in the end and I was just grateful for the support I received throughout the whole battle.”
