Ne-Yo insists it’s never been the fame and glory that attracted him to what he does today.

R&B star Ne-Yo used to write songs for lots of other big artists before hitting the charts himself.

Ne-yo said: “Fame and glory has never been my reason for doing this, it has always been my love for music.

“Somebody just pointed out to me the other day, as if I didn’t already know, that I have yet to write a song for myself as big as, for example, the Beyoncé record Irreplacable.

“My response to that was, okay for one, I know, and for two, it’s really not important for me to write a record for myself as big as the Beyoncé record, because I wrote the Beyoncé record. It’s about the music, and not so much who’s singing the music.”

He then went on to say how he enjoyed being behind the scenes more than being in the spotlight.

“I was always the guy behind the guy. It was a cool place to be, because you can make all the money you want to make and hear your songs on the radio on a regular basis, and nobody knew who you were.”

“Fame is honestly the one part of this that I can honestly take or leave.”
