Wheatus storm iTunes chart with Teenage Dirtbag

Flecking favourites Wheatus have stormed the iTunes chart with their hit track Teenage Dirtbag.

First released back in 2000, the track, which featured on the Loser soundtrack, was a hit here in the UK, peaking at number two.

It was a huge hit in Australia, occupying the top spot for three weeks and becoming the second highest-selling song of the year.

The teen anthem has been covered by the likes of Weezer, All Time Low and Dashboard Confessional. Even big pop names like Popstars The Rivals winners Girls Aloud and Irish boyband Westlife have had a crack at performing the song on tour.

In a recent interview, front-man Brendan Brown told Flecking Records about his favourite covers of the track. “The Ukulele Orchestra Of Great Britain and The SCALA covers are both pretty damn impressive.”

“Such an honor to have had that happen, to be included in that repertoire, very, very cool.” he added.

But what does he think of the slightly reworked Girls Aloud take on his hit?

“Liked it but they should have kept my pronouns… HA!” he said.

At time of press, the track is occupying the number 24 spot in the iTunes chart. If you want to show Wheatus how much you love them, and encourage them to come back to the UK soon, click here to download.
