Our (Entertainment) New Year’s Resolutions

Woo! Happy New Year! The year 2012 has started, and while most people are swearing off things like chocolate (for as long as it takes them to eyeball that selection box) we’ve decided here at Flecking Records to make our New Year’s Resolutions all entertainment based.

I’ve set myself five resolutions from the worlds of music, TV, film and video games – all much easier to keep than giving up chocolate.

So, in no particular order…

Watch Titanic 3D At The Cinema
3D cinema/TV is my latest favourite thing. I also love all things Titanic, so I’m looking forward to this.
On April 14, 1912, the Titanic went down, so this April will mark 100 years since the tragic event. It will also see the re-release of the 1997 film, Titanic, this time in 3D. Whether you’re fascinated by the Titanic, a sucker for a good love story or (like me) someone who really really wants to see Leonardo DiCaprio in 3D, then this is the film for you. We plan to see it at the cinema as close to April 14 as possible.

Give Celebrity Big Brother Another Chance
I’m a Big Brother fan, so naturally I was gutted when I heard that Channel 4 would be dropping it. You can imagine how delighted I was when I found out that Channel 5 had swooped in to save the day, promising a celebrity series followed by a “regular people” series. I excitedly tuned in to the all-new Celebrity Big Brother to see a bunch of people I didn’t know and a few people I didn’t like. I wasn’t worried though, this is Big Brother, they’ll make it interesting, right? Buzz! Wrong! I found the contestants so boring I soon stopped watching, but I didn’t give up hope. I carried on recording the show every night, my Sky planner quickly filling up, and every now and again I’d watch another in the hope it would get better. But it didn’t, and for that reason I nearly didn’t watch the “regular people” one that followed. I gave it a chance though, and it was awesome. I don’t know what to expect from the next CBB (which kicks off this month) but I will be giving it a chance.

Catch up with Fringe
I was a little late to the Fringe party. The show started back in 2008, but it was only last year that I started watching it and I’m loving it.
The show in currently on season 4, so I’m not doing too bad – I’m nearly half way through season 3. My third resolution is to catch up with the episodes as they are on TV. It’s no fun spoiler-dodging.
Looking for a reason to start watching? It’s fascinating, the twists are great, it has some truly hilarious moments and if that’s not enough Joshua Jackson stars, and he’s smokin’ hot!

Get Adam Lambert More UK Recognition
We make no secret of the fact that we believe Adam Lambert is hugely under-appreciated here in the UK. It was purely by accident that we even learnt of Adam’s existence. When we heard about a singer who was jumping off stage to snog lucky individuals at the front row of his shows we knew this would be something our readers would love to read about. Soon after we published we were blown away by the number of Adam fans who posted, sharing their favourite songs and videos with us, and an equally large number of people commented to say they had never heard of Adam, but were seriously impressed by his vocals. It was then we made it our mission to back Adam in all ways possible, and with his new music out this year we’re planning more of the same.

Finish GTA IV Before GTA V Is Released
And finally, resolution number 5 is a bit of a nerdy one. GTA IV is probably my favourite game of all time, so you can imagine how excited I am for the next instalment – GTA V!
Now when I say finish GTA IV, what I actually mean is get the platinum trophy on PS3. The game came out back in 2008, so I’ve completed it countless times – you need a couple of plays to get all trophies. All I have left is a couple of tedious multi-player trophies to achieve and then that sweet little platinum is mine – I want to get this done before the release of V… whenever that may be.
