Lit announce their long-awaited return to the UK for a special, one-off headline gig in Camden, London. The platinum-selling Orange County rock band will play Koko on Thursday, June 13th with support from Patent Pending and Blacklist Royals. The band then head to Castle Donington to play Download Festival on June 15th.

Lit’s new single “The Broken” is released in the UK on May 13th (video link below). Taken from their recently released fifth studio album, the Butch Walker-produced “The View From The Bottom”, the song has already been added to the playlists of both Kerrang Radio and Bloodstock Radio and is receiving regular plays on rock shows across the country.

“The View From The Bottom” comes a full eight years after the release of its self-titled predecessor and the band have endured more than their fair share of heartbreak in the intervening years, not least the Popoff brothers tragically losing their stepfather in a motorcycle collision with a drunk driver, an accident which also left their mother with serious injuries. This was followed by the untimely death of drummer and founding member Allen Shellenberger after a long and hard-fought battle with a brain tumour. Initially, it seemed unthinkable for the band to continue but original members Jeremy and A.Jay Popoff and bassist Kevin Baldes tentatively begin to rebuild, writing songs almost as a form of therapy and without the pressure of working towards a fixed release date.

They were helped by the addition of new drummer Nathan Walker, who was the natural choice to step behind the Lit drum-kit. A good friend of the band, he had served as drum tech for Shellenberger and filled-in for him at live shows during the later part of his career so brought with him a sense of continuity. The result is an album that confronts the band-members’ grief whilst celebrating Shellenberger’s life and heralds a new beginning for a band of brothers and best friends who are moving forward, united by an even stronger bond. It delivers a well-balanced mix of both introspective ballads and a fresh batch of hook-laden, pop-rock anthems that will sit perfectly alongside Lit’s mega-hits, including the evergreen, Billboard Award-winning classic “My Own Worst Enemy”, when they bring their live show back to Britain this summer.

“Polished fare awash with slick harmonies, clean guitars, heavy drumbeats, giant hooks and an unadulterated wall of gleaming pop.” – Rock Sound

“The wait was most definitely worth it as ‘The View From the Bottom’ is certainly among their best work. Welcome back Lit.” – uberrock

“They’ve not skipped a beat, picking up where they left off.” – Kerrang

After riding through a storm of triumph and tragedy, Lit return energetic, defiant and at the very top of their game. Their live sets at Koko and Download are certain to win over a whole new generation of UK fans that have only seen the band on heavy rotation on rock music channels. For the rest of us, we’ll finally get the chance to relive why we all loved Lit so much the first time around.

“The View From The Bottom” is out now on Megaforce Records.
