Jake Bugg confirmed for Ryder Cup concert

With the impending launch of the Commonwealth Games and the Ryder Cup, sport looks set to dominate Scotland this year. However, there’s also plenty for music fans to look forward to as it has just been announced that a star-studded concert will be held at The Hydro in Glasgow to welcome the arrival of the Ryder Cup.

Whilst a headlining act is yet to be announced, it has been confirmed that Jake Bugg will join a host of Scottish musicians including Nina Nesbitt, Texas and Twin Atlantic on the line-up. The gala will also feature performances from the Scottish Ballet, Scottish Opera and the National Theatre of Scotland and both the European and USA golf teams will be in attendance.

Kim Gavin, who was behind the London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony, has been tasked with putting on the event. He said: “The Ryder Cup is one of the most exciting events in the sporting calendar and to have the opportunity to work on two of the biggest sporting events in the world (Ryder Cup and London 2012 Olympics) is a dream come true for me. It’s going to be a really special night.”
