Live show of Finnish Midsummer celebrations under the Midnight Sun

On midsummer night in Lapland the sun stays up the whole night. And so do the people! Follow Lapland and the rest of Finland dancing under the midnight sun through a 5-hour live show by YLE, the national public broadcasting company of Finland.

On the centenary year of Finland’s independence the entire country celebrates Midsummer together at more than one thousand different events around the country, from the island of Åland to the town of Kilpisjärvi in Lapland.

A 5-hour live show made possible by 28 production crews will visit big and small Midsummer celebrations throughout the night. Helicopter will follow the biggest parties from the air, and the smallest and most intimate cottage gatherings you get to visit through personal Facebook live streams. The show will give you a chance to see how Midsummer is celebrated in Lapland through visits to Pello, Inari, Kilpisjärvi, Muonio and Rovaniemi. The culmination of the evening will be at 10PM local time when the country turns into a giant virtual dance arena and everyone will join to dance together to the same song in an attempt to break the world record!

Join the celebrations on the 23rd of June at 5PM (UTC +02:00) wherever you are through the website http://areena.yle.fi/1-4062961 and Facebook facebook.com/HulahulaSuomi. Don’t miss out on the party of the century!
