Stars come out for Girls I Rate Summer Soirée

Emeli Sandé, Naughty Boy, Liz McClarnon and Aston Merrygold all walked the Red Carpet for the Girls I Rate Summer Soirée.

On Wednesday 21st June, some of the biggest names in music and the arts came together to celebrate female empowerment within the creative industries at the Girls I Rate (GIR) Summer Soirée. Guests in attendance included MBE honoured Emeli Sandé; MOBO Award winner Naughty Boy; global chart-topping singer Liz McClarnon and former boy band Brit award-winning Aston Merrygold.

Celebrated on The Yacht, Temple Pier, the GIR Summer Soirée was hosted by GIR founder and international songwriter Carla Marie Williams who is best known for her work on Grammy Award winning Album ‘Lemonade’, co-writing BRIT smash hit “Runnin” for Naughty Boy featuring Beyoncé and her collaboration with Britney Spears in 2016 penning songs “Private Show” and “What You Need” on the Glory Album.

Other guests who joined Williams in hosting the evening were MTV and UNILAD presenter Rio Fredrika; BBC’s 1Xtra DJ Melody Kane and Sarah Richards, choreographer, dancer and a regular feature on Britain’s Got Talent and X Factor. Lizzy Cundy and Fisco were also in attendance.

Emeli Sandé, one of the GIR advocates commented; “I think it’s important for girls to come together and to encourage and support one another. Women are often encouraged to be in competition which weakens us in an already imbalanced world.”

Girls I Rate is a non-profit organisation which provides a platform for women & girls to collaborate, celebrate and empower each other through workshops and networking events. The invited guests and celebrities attended the Summer Soirée to help raise awareness and funds to drive the movement forward and creating further opportunities for women.
