X Factor voting – a sham??

Ofcom – the broadcasting watchdogs, have been hounded by 40,000 fans of X Factor regarding Laura White’s departure from the show. It seems people are not happy, and were surprised by the result, so have asked Ofcom to investigate the telephone voting procedures.

She was the favourite to win, and we at Flecking still cannot get over the fact that both Louis and Simon kicked her off, and chose Ruth instead.

Apparently on Saturday night, callers could not get through to vote for Laura, so there is now a massive situation on X Factor’s hands. Petitions have been set up, and the authors of petitiononline.com were the ones who sent the complaints over to Ofcom in the first place.

They say, “We write on behalf of 50,000 members of the public who have so far signed petitions of complaint. There is a body of evidence to suggest that there are major issues concerning telephone voting on the above programme. The main thrust of our complaint is that there is no transparency regarding the total number of votes and how many votes each contestant received. In addition many thousands of viewers are convinced that either their call was blocked or their vote misappropriated.”

Reportedly Cheryl Cole had a blazing row with Louis after the show as well, seems as if Cheryl is as dumbfounded as we are!

A spokesman for the show said: “We would like to reiterate that there were absolutely no issues with the phone lines or the voting system during last week’s X Factor. They are subject to rigorous procedures and protocols.”

An Ofcom spokesman then said: “We have received complaints about the X Factor programme broadcast on Saturday. These complaints are being assessed against our Broadcasting Code.”

Either way, she should never have been voted out. Let’s get Laura back!
