Prince has announced that he will be giving away his new album in a national newspaper.

The singer has released an album through a newspaper before in 2007 with his album Planet Earth, causing anger among high street retailers. This year he’s doing it again! Copies of 20Ten will be available in The Mirror and Daily Record on July 10.

Prince’s spokeswoman, Kiran Sharma, said that the deal shows “it is still possible for artists to work in an independent and innovative capacity”.

The new album is said to have ‘strong funk and new wave elements’.

Since Planet Earth’s newspaper giveaway, other artists such as McFly have released new LPs in the same way.
