The family(!) of a star of the Harry Potter film series have been charged with threatening to kill 22-year-old Afshan Azad, who plays Harry’s classmate Padman Patil.

The actress allegedly had a threat made against her life by her father and was assaulted by her brother during a row over her boyfriend at her home in Manchester.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Azad claimed yesterday that she no longer wishes to proceed with the case and doesn’t want to see her family behind bars.

“The actress has tried on three occasions to retract her statement and has pleaded with the Crown Prosecution Service not to proceed with the matter,” said the lawyer for the accused.

“This is a desperately sad situation. She never wanted her father or brother locked up.”

Azad will star in the upcoming Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, the first part of which is due to be released in the UK in November.
