Russell Brand has been back in character as the drunken playboy in the remake of Arthur, but appears to have confused his Eighties films, as he’s in the car from Back To The Future.

Brand, currently filming the remake of Dudley Moore’s 1981 classic, looked highly delighted on set as he messed about with the iconic gull-winged DeLorean – bearing the original ‘Outatime’ number plates.

In reference to Michael J Fox’s 1985 timetravel movie, Brand joked afterwards on his Twitter account @rustyrockets: ‘I’m going “Back To The Future” where for some reason it’s ok to perv over yer own Mum.’

In Back To The Future, Fox’s character, Marty McFly, goes back to 1955 in the DeLorean, which has been turned into a time machine by his scientist friend Doc – but his own mother accidentally falls for him as she doesn’t know who he is.

It’s not clear whether Brand’s character in the reboot of Arthur gets to go back in the past or travel to the future – or whether he’s just so loaded, he can afford to buy the original car from the movie.

On set, the former Big Brother’s Little Brother host is seen prancing around the car wearing a red blazer, bowler hat, white shirt and white slim trousers held up with braces in an ensemble that’s a bit ‘circus ringmaster meets A Clockwork Orange.’
