X Factor 1 – 1 Facebook Campaigners.

Campaigners failed to prevent the X Factor winner from bagging the Christmast number one spot in the UK top 40 this year, and Matt Cardle’s winners’ single When We Collide claimed the top spot.

The strongest competition came from a group of campaigners who wanted to get The Trashmen’s catchy as hell track Surfin’ Bird to the top spot. We secretly would have loved to see this track bag the number one, just because we love it so much and not because Matt Cardle didn’t deserve it.

Surfin’ Bird did make an appearance in the chart though, landing the number three spot.

Recently speaking about these campaigns, Matt said: “I understand why they do it. I have been too focused on the competition to be really thinking about it an awful lot,”

“If people want to get something else to number one that’s fine…if it’s for charity whatever…you can’t stop people doing what they want to do.” he told STV.

Well done Matt.
