James Franco has discuses selecting movie roles.

The actor doesn’t limit himself to particular roles, in particular genres.

“It seems like of course you should work this way, but I didn’t understand this: don’t act in any movie you wouldn’t ordinarily go to see on your own if you weren’t in it,” he said.

“Now I don’t necessarily always follow that advice. Sometimes there’s an actor I want to work with, or a director I want to work with. On Eat Pray Love I got to work with Julia Roberts for a week. Why not have that experience?”

“The press are going to come up with an image of you no matter what, so if projects like General Hospital are a way to go out there and shake that up a little bit I don’t see the harm.”
