Anita Dobson Cha Cha Cha’s out of Strictly Come Dancing

Sir Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly are back in the ballroom following last week’s Wembley spectacular, with the seven remaining couples dancing for a place in next week’s Movie Night themed Quarter Final.

On Saturday, our “magnificent seven” couples took to the ballroom floor to perform a selection of glittering ballroom and Latin routines, hoping to win over the public and impress the judges. They also danced in Strictly’s 2011 “Swingathon” – in which ALL remaining couples took to the dancefloor simultaneously, eliminated one at a time at the choice of the judges, winning extra points the longer they lasted.

On Sunday’s result show, it was revealed that the bottom two couples were Anita Dobson & Brendan Cole and Holly Valance & Artem Chigvintsev. It was then revealed that Anita was then next contestant to leave the competition.

On Saturday’s show Anita had danced with Brendan Cole due to her regular dance partner Robin Windsor missing this week’s competition with a foot infection. They had danced a Cha Cha Cha to Uptown Girl by Billy Joel.

When asked what her Strictly highlight has been, Anita said “He [Robin] made this the most humorous, enjoyable, fun, wonderful learning experience you could ever imagine. Thank you SO much. Can I just say thank-you to Brendan too, because without him I wouldn’t have done this week… thank you”.

Her regular dance partner, Robin, appeared via telephone linkup to pay tribute to his partner “Anita darling, I just wanted to say you’ve been absolutely incredible, and I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there with you tonight. It has been a pleasure to work with you. You have been one of the most enthusiastic and hard-working people I’ve ever, ever, ever met. I’m going to miss you dearly”.
