Lostprophets’ singer Ian Watkins denies baby rape charges

Ian Watkins has pleaded not guilty to 24 child sex charges.

The Lostprophets front-man told Cardiff Crown Court he denied the charges, which include two counts of rape of a child under one-year of age, one count of sexual assault of the same child and one count of conspiracy to rape another baby.

The 35-year-old, who appeared via video-link, also pleaded not guilty to the taking, making and possession of indecent images of children.

Two women, aged 20 and 24, also denied sexual offences against children via video-link, but cannot be named for legal reasons.

Watkins’ solicitor issued a statement on his behalf saying: “I want to thank my family, friends and all the fans for their continued support throughout this whole ordeal.

“Your support gives me strength. I deny all the allegations against me and I will fight to the end to clear my name.”

The trial is expected to take place later in the year.
