Lostprophets’ Ian Watkins pleads guilty to 13 sexual offences, including two charges of attempting to rape a baby

The trial of Ian Watkins started today. The Lostprophets frontman, who was arrested last December, originally denied all changes against him.

The 36-year-old, along with two women who cannot be named for legal reasons, stand accused of 32 offences in total.

In a sickening turn of events today, Watkins has pleaded guilty to 13 sexual offences, including two of attempting to rape a baby.

Walesonline.co.uk has also reported that his two female co-defendants have also admitted a string of sex abuse charges against children.

The site also reports that Sally O’Neill QC, on behalf of Watkins, said while the musician claimed he “cannot remember” the attempted rapes – which were captured on video – he wanted the charges put to him again.

Watkins denied two counts of raping an 11-month-old baby, but admitted sexually assaulting a child aged under 13 – as well as aiding and abetting a female co-defendant to sexually assault a child under 13.

The BBC have reported that, of the women standing alongside Watkins in the dock, prosecuting barrister Chris Clee QC said: “Both women sexually abused their own children and made them available to Watkins for him to abuse.”

Watkins will be sentenced at a later date.
