Introducing: Heather Dickson

When you think of country music, Dunfermline in Scotland isn’t exactly the first place that you’d think to look. But that’s exactly where Heather Dickson, the latest country star in the making, quietly built up her reputation as a talented live act before being flown to Nashville to record her debut album, Eventually.

“I couldn’t think of a better place to record my album,” smiles Heather. “Nashville has spawned so many famous artists and flying there alone was the most thrilling experience I have ever had. The best thing about it was being able to work with world-class session players including Dolly Parton’s drummer, Steve Turner and The G Men, who play with Garth Brooks.”

Heather was only four-years-old when, inspired by the iconic voice of Elvis Presley, she began to sing.

“My passion for country music came from my love for Elvis. He sang many country songs very well and I love all the classics, too. Country music is emotional and in my mind, it speaks from the heart. Eventually is a mix of all country genres with a touch of Scottish Pipes added in to represent my culture. I love the styles and emotional concept it portrays.”

Determined to turn her passion for music into a career, Heather joined a local band as a drummer before performing anywhere she could once she turned 18. Her big break came after popular singer-songwriter Teri Sharp heard her singing on an online radio show and the pair were introduced by mutual friends. It wasn’t long before Heather found herself recording in Nashville with popular producer Rick Durrett. Together, they recorded Eventually, an emotionally-charged pop-country record that looks set to raise Heather’s musical profile internationally.

“Rick Durrett is a great man,” says Heather. “He made me feel like I was very special and I am grateful to have worked with him. He told me many stories about his touring days with the likes of Crystal Gale and I was so honoured to have the chance to work with him.”
