CBB! Day 17: Big In Japan

Day 17 in the Celebrity Big Brother house…

11:14am
Housemates have been up for 1 hour and 58 minutes. Gareth and Michael are in the gym, talking about the twins. Michael says that the girls believe they are “untouchable” following Kirk and Natalie’s evictions. All Housemates are unaware that there will be no more nominations. Karissa and Kristina are in the garden discussing future possible nominations. They agree to be cautious of Nicola despite their new found friendship, “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer,” Karissa adds. Denise is in the diary room. Big Brother reveals that she will lead an elaborate hoax to fool three of the most “gullible” housemates. After a short deliberation Denise revealed she would love to pick Michael “to be sucked in to believing he was big in Japan,” but eventually chooses Gareth, Romeo and The Twins.

12:57pm
Housemates have been gathered on the sofa to watch footage of Super Chat the fake Japanese chat show. The TV screen shows a montage of Japanese fans waving posters of them. Big Brother announces that the housemates who have made the biggest impression with Japanese fans of the show are Denise, Gareth, Romeo and The Twins. They are told that they will be filmed for a live broadcast. “Have they spoken with our representatives? We can’t just go in there…” Karissa worries. Romeo thinks the show may be fake, “But I’ll go along with it,” he adds. Big Brother calls the participating housemate to the diary room. Meanwhile Frankie and Nicola laugh about The Twins’ reaction. “We need to talk to our reps,” mimics Nicola while Frankie mimics, “If I ain’t getting paid, I ain’t doing it.” Michael is sceptical about the show adding, “I think the whole thing is a hoax.”

The Super Chat housemates are in the diary room. Michael, Frankie and Nicola are in the living area and notice a message on the TV screen. Big Brother reveals that Denise is on a secret task; Super Chat is a fake show and housemates must go along with the ruse to convince Gareth, Romeo and The Twins that it’s real. The other housemates return to the living area.

In the garden, Michael tells Romeo that he would do the show if he had been asked. Romeo seems convinced and cheerfully tells Frankie and Michael that the twins were asking loads of questions when they all had a briefing with Big Brother while in the diary room.

1:36pm
Big Brother’s elaborate hoax has brought Denise and Michael together again. In the garden Michael and Denise are laughing about the task, “Its f**king genius,” Michael adds. Denise admits through her laughter that she almost targeted him for the hoax “for my own twisted enjoyment.” Their amusement continues.

Meanwhile, Super Chat fever has gripped the house. Denise asks one of the twins what the time difference is with Japan. “I’ve no clue, I don’t even know where Japan is!” she replies. Gareth asks Denise if his shirt is suitable for the show. “That’s very Attitude (magazine) Japan,” she laughs as Gareth jokingly flashes his chest. Michael tells the twins that he heard of Super Chat after making the Kill Bill movies.

Housemates are in the Super Chat studio and the show begins. Denise is first onto the sofa. “You like to get out the boobies,” host Daijiro begins. Denise then flashes her bra. “You and Michael are like a married couple,” he says and Michael smirks while watching from the audience.

Gareth is the next guest. He takes part in a dance, dressed as a piece of sushi. Later in the diary room Denise confessed that she was in awe of Gareth’s “commitment” to please his faux fans. Michael also spoke to Big Brother and said he was embarrassed for Gareth, “I just wanted to rip that thing (costume) off him,” he added.

3:52pm
It’s 3:52pm in the UK and 12:52am in Tokyo. Romeo is the next show guest. Host Daijiro presents him with the Romeo Ramen Noodle dish which he claims is a hit in Japan. A fish head sits on top of the noodles and Romeo eats the noodles. Nicola retches in the audience. Later in the diary room, Denise tells Big Brother that she is proud of Romeo’s efforts.

The Twins are the final Super Chat guests. They reluctantly agree to try some Japanese beauty treatments. Karissa is first and has a face mask applied. Diajiro reveals that the face mask contains “monkey droppings.” Karissa becomes hysterical while Denise and the other housemates reassure her from the audience. Then, Kristina agrees to try a traditional pedicure. Like her sister is soon hysterical after realising it contains prawn, eel and octopus. She jumps all over the sofa before eventually giving in.

Later in the diary room, Frankie says it was “absolutely brilliant” seeing Karissa with poo on her face. Super Chat and Frankie hugs the two Japanese girls from the show and gives them a kiss.

8 minutes later, in the diary room, Nicola says that the task has been her favourite thing so far in the house. “I’ll never forget it,” Gareth gushes and says that on his death bed, his last words will be, “Say hello to Japan!

5:14pm
After all the excitement of today’s task, most housemates have crashed out. Michael and Denise are talking in the garden. Michael tells her, “I can’t understand where they got these people. Michael confesses that his only worry is that Gareth will be crushed when the hoax is revealed and says that he didn’t enjoy lying to him. “I feel like such a f**king s**t.” he adds.
He asks Denise if he has a bogey in his nose. “I’d tell you if you had,” she smirks.

7:41pm
Michael is asleep and snoring in the bedroom. The other housemates are discussing their jet set lifestyles. Kristina tells her sister that England is east of America and Karissa asks housemates the difference between the sea and an ocean. “They’re the same thing,” Frankie replies and tells them he lives near a beach. “What ocean is it on,” they ask. ”F**k knows” Frankie replies and asks Denise who tells him it’s the English Channel. Kristina tells the group that some oceans haven’t been fully explored because they’re too deep. She says that she plans to buy a camera, a weight and a long chain so that she can find out how deep the sea goes “I’ll get in the Guinness Book of World Records for it,” she beams.

8:26pm
Big Brother has gathered housemates on the sofas. He reveals to the gullible housemates that Super Chat was a task, that the others were in on it and they have all passed. Nicola tells the twins that they did really well and Gareth says that he really believed it. As a reward, the housemates are told they will be getting a Japanese-themed karaoke party.

During the party Michael performs Karaoke to Stuck in the Middle with You. Gareth impresses housemates with his rapping while performing Jump Around. Later in the diary room housemates tell Big Brother how well the pair performed. “It’s the first time Michael really let his hair down,” Nicola said. She also mentioned how gorgeous Gareth is adding: “I’m so not his type, at all.”

Denise says it has been a great day and a great night. Nicola says it has been the greatest day of Big Brother. Gareth adds: “I’ve had a blast, it gone from a house of pain, to a house of joy.”

01:24am
Denise and Michael are in the bedroom. They hug as Denise says, “Night darling.” Michael replies, “Goodnight sweetheart,” and they slow dance for a little while. Michael mimics a voiceover and says, “They finally made up.” “That’s the shot they want,” Denise jokes before going off to bed.

Kristina and Karissa are heard plotting in the bathroom toilet. We hear them try to work out which housemates will nominate them. They agree that “Gareth will be the breaking point for them,” and say that they expect to go.

The housemates retire one by one to bed. A while later the sound of Denise’s snoring dominates the bedroom. Michael crawls across the bedroom floor and puts his arms under Denise’s duvet and tickles her feet. He then sits on the bed next to her and lightly throws a cushion on her face. Denise continues to snore.
