Hot boyband The Wanted have told how they ditched a date with Pixie Lott and The Saturdays. The five-piece band had asked the babes back to their room after a gig.

But the boys left the ladies in lurch on their manager’s orders.

Bandmember Jay McGuinness said: “We love The Saturdays and we’ve been seeing them at a lot of festivals recently. We normally have a couple of hours to sit and talk but we’ve not recently.

“In fact, at one event we invited The Saturdays, Pixie Lott and Beverley Knight back to our room and then ended up brushing them off because we were told we had to leave to go somewhere else by management.”

The boys – whose single All Time Low was No.1 in the midweek chart – could get a chance to catch up with The Saturdays when both groups perform at In:Demand at Glasgow’s SECC on Saturday.

Jay said: “Maybe at In:Demand we’ll get a chance to party. I think I already know who’s going to be a bit of a cracker – Vanessa, Frankie and Una.

“Mollie seems sweet and more sensible and Rochelle can handle herself. I’ll be honest, we’re going to have a go at it.

“There’s only two who are single so I can see a competition happening. We’ll all have a crack and see who succeeds.”
