Despite leaving Taylor Swift devastated at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards ceremony by saying Beyonce should have won her award, Kanye West has been invited back to perform at next month’s VMAs.

MTV seems to have forgiven the singer, even if Swift hasn’t, and Kanye announced via Twitter: ‘Just met with MTV and it’s about to go down! VMAs!!!!!!’

He is set to perform live on September 12 in front of the massive live audience and even said in a radio interview this week that the criticism after his stage invasion actually helped him.

‘I needed that. I have to have humility. I had truth and confidence, but I had to add humility and empathy. I added those after I got beat up’, the rapper said.

The incident that saw Kanye jump up on stage uninvited and insult Miss Swift, even led US President Obama to call him a ‘jack ass’.

But the See Now singer has been given a second chance and will no doubt be on his best behaviour this year.

Other stars confirmed to present at the awards show include: Penn Badgley, Emma Stone, Nicki Minaj, Trey Songz, Selena Gomez and Ne-Yo.
