Dougie Poynter has revealed that he over did it with the caffeine back in the early McFly days.

The bassist told how, when the band supported Busted on their area tour, he went “purple” with energy.

“I went a bit nuts, came off stage and went purple,” he recalls. “The paramedics were called.”

“I was having shots of espresso and Red Bull and Poweraid and I was 16 and thought I needed more energy,” he told www.chroniclelive.co.uk.

“But it kind of went the other way. I just went purple and everyone started to get worried. To be honest there was enough energy off the crowd. I was just young and naive.”
