You Me At Six Interview – Vans Warped Tour

You’re on the road a lot, especially on this tour which is two months long, how do you deal with being so far from home?
Chris:
Just man up and deal with it. I’m constantly on the phone to my girlfriend just frantically typing.
Dan:
I have found that Facebook for me is a big help. Even my Mum’s on Facebook now, my sister, all of my friends. It’s just easy to upload pictures, or write a status, you almost feel like you’re just at home.
Chris:
There was one day on this tour when I felt really homesick, when there was a hurricane storm and it was literally just like torrential rain all day and all of us were completely soaked through just walking around.
Dan:
Oh yeah. It was literally like a monsoon.
Chris:
And that just made me really miss home.

If you could host your own Warped tour, who would headline and who would support?
Chris:
We would headline!
How big headed of you!

Chris:
[laughs] No one would come if we headlined. I’d get some crazy old school bands to headline. It would probably be like the Reading Festival line up.
Dan:
We would get like Rammstein and Rage Against The Machine. And then we could play.

Chris:
I don’t think we could play though, because we would have to make sure that everything and everyone was alright?
Dan:
I’d just wanna watch the show to be honest.

Tell us something interesting about each of you or your band mates.
Chris:
Well Matt Barnes is still in bed. What’s the time? Like two in the afternoon or something and he’s still in bed. He’s the lazy one. Josh and Max are hustling at merch
already.
Dan:
Max is crazy good at just going round and literally talking to anyone. It’s good ’cause you need someone in the band that can approach people. He’s the fun one.

Do you have any crazy fan stories?
Chris:
A girl from Poland would come to every single show in the UK, and she’d always be first in the queue or whatever, and she would literally be on the barrier at every show just crying her eyes out.
Dan:
Yeah but then it got weird because she started to make up lies about us.
Chris:
Yeah horrible rumours.

Dan:
She was saying that we all got her pregnant and stuff, and that she was sleeping on our bus every night.
Chris:
And that she was Dan’s sister.

Dan:
And then she said that she was my cousin.

Chris:
I think she had a screw loose to be honest.
Dan:
She was definitely crazy.
Does she still come to your shows?
Chris:
Nope.
Dan:
She doesn’t actually, no.
Chris:
She’s probably in Poland crying on a barrier somewhere.
Dan:
She’s probably found a new band.
